OPNFV meet-up at OpenStack-Paris
Hi all,
First let me introduce myself as this is my first public appearance in the OPNFV community. My name is Carlos Gonçalves and I joined NEC Laboratories this month. You can expect contributions from my side to the OPNFV and OpenStack projects. Please refer to https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=69752680 or http://cgoncalves.pt/about/ for more information.
I’m attending the OpenStack Summit next month. I would like to get to know people of the OPNFV community and have F2F meetings to also discuss proposals and how we are going to coordinate our work upstream with the open-source community (OpenStack, OpenDaylight, KVM, etc), and for that reason I’ve added a new item to the wiki page Chris created.
Shortly, having new ideas and contributions accepted upstream may take up to several months, and that’s if they get incorporated at all. Fortunately we all have people who are (core) developers upstream so that might help us getting things in. If we see it’s being painful having contributions upstream, then the alternative would be to fork OpenStack, OpenDaylight, …, and rebase our code. I (strongly?) advice against taking this later path, as with time code conflicts will arise and handling them would be excruciating.
That’s it for now. Hope to meet you all in Paris!
Cheers,
Carlos Goncalves

otherwise I see also some possible topics
- packstack extension? So far, as fas I know it supports fedora and RHEL only
- Neutron NFV features (seem not so active compared to Nova NFV dev) and co-existence with ODL within OPNFV
- Ceilometer regarding monitoring/fault management requirement
- Shall we create also a project related to Energy Efficiency (Ceilometer + KWAPI already provide metrics on OpenStack side) => ETSI GS NFV Virtualization requirements doc (addressing compute node and hypervisors)
- re-use of Tempest assuming that the goal is not to retest Openstack but to setup a "similar" C/I env
if it makes sense I can add these topics to the list on the wiki

This is good idea.
Ideally, we should make clear our request and problem description first, with priority or how many operator want.
However, we don't have much time to prepare OpenStack Summit. OpenStack Community has already started discussions what they will talk in the summit.
# Etherpad is better to do this, but we don't have it for now...
Thanks,
Ryota

If everyone will be in Paris, we could find an option to over view these topics without presenting to a session because it is already to late. During this session, we could work on drafting an Etherpad.
